CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Montgomery County Veterans Coalition held its first monthly meeting of 2017 on January 8 at the Montgomery County Veterans Plaza downtown Clarksville.

Coalition members were invited and encouraged to attend a meeting hosted by Sen. Mark Green on Jan. 24 at 7 p.m. at the Civic Hall. Coalition members discussed fundraising for the Coalition while grants are being written and processed.

The “Veterans Day on the Hill” event is scheduled for February 8. There are 450-500 veterans expected to attend the event.

Presenter for the month was Mr. Bobby Thurman, Case Worker for the USO’s RP6 program. The RP6 program works with soldiers 12 months prior to them leaving and 12 months after leaving active duty military no matter the discharge status. The program assists with everything from resumes, housing, employment, referral, benefits, legal, family support and volunteer opportunities. The soldier or veteran is provided transitional guidance and assistance as they move into the civilian world.
