CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Montgomery County Veterans Coalition held its monthly meeting on March 16, 2016 at the Montgomery County Veterans Plaza/ Civic Hall.
There were approximately 45 members in attendance that represented various organizations, agencies and businesses that provide services to our local Veteran population.
Discussions included the recent success of both the first annual Veterans Day on the Hill, as well as the first Veterans Recreational Fair. The first Veterans Day on the Hill was sponsored by the Coalition and the Military Officers Association of America. The two main bills addressed focused on the property tax bill to reverse the decisions from last year’s session and the education bill to extend the amount of time veterans would receive in state tuition.
Over 200 veteran representatives from across the state attended and were able to see all TN State Senators and all but 25 State representatives.
Plans for next year’s event are already underway.
The Coalition’s focus is to make a difference for the veterans in our local community and in our state by supporting our member organizations in their efforts to assist their veterans.
