CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – After 20 years in the Navy and 15 years at Ft. Campbell, Navy veterans, Henry and Sandra Walker have entered into a new career path after a weekend outing to celebrate their anniversary spawned an idea.

While celebrating in Nashville the couple went to an axe throwing venue and had a wonderful time. Shortly after, they met the owners of another axe throwing place in Virginia. The seeds had been sown for a new business venture. Their research on the sport included three separate trips to three different locations and countless hours of research on the business structure.

The couple are new to owning a small business but have been dedicated community and public servants for decades.

Henry was a Navy 1st Class Hospital Corpsman for 20 years. Sandra, who was raised in Hopkinsville, KY, also served as a Hospital Corpsman for four years. Both were stationed with the Marines at Parris Island, South Carolina, where they met and got married almost 30 years ago.

The couple says their Christian faith is the guiding principle to their business. They want to provide a meeting place for fun, fellowship and competition.

The Walkers plan on being actively involved with non-profit organizations in the community including Reboot Recovery, Wounded Warriors, and the BOSS program part of Ft. Campbell MWR. The Axe Throwing Place will also be available for Men and Women’s Bible Study.

The venue will be located off Exit 11 on Fire Station Road. It features 4 ½ throwing lanes with trained ‘Axeperts’ to help people get started.

While there is not a special event currently planned for the grand opening, they are planning to offer Team Building Events for businesses in the area. Companies can reserve time online once the venue is open. The anticipated opening day is October 19. Days of operation are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 4-10, Friday and Saturday from 12-10, Sunday and Monday are closed. Cost for The Axe Throwing Place will be per hour: 1-3 people $25.00 per person, 3-5 people $22.50 per person, military, first responders and parties of 5 or more people $20.00 per person. Private parties on Sunday afternoon by special reservation ONLY.
