CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – After his service to the nation, Willie James decided to return home to Clarksville and become a part of the business community and he’s now the owner of Your Choice Senior Care.
Your Choice Senior Care began in August 2021, and James said it’s a mix of regular home care and a staffing agency for senior care facilities. “We do one-on-one’s, we work in people’s homes, and we staff facilities,” James said.
James spent close to 14 years in the Army and retired from service in 2016.
In 2019, he was serving as an intelligence contactor at the Baghdad Embassy Complex when it came under attack by the multiple Iranian-backed militias. It prompted him to seek out a new line of work, risking everything he had in order to have normal life in Clarksville, so he can see his children every night, realizing what matters most after such a terrible ordeal.
Going into the business of senior care is a bit of a family tradition. When he was a youngster, James lived for a time with his grandmother, who was a certified nursing assistant. “I thought it was interesting, and it was always in the back of my head – it was always kind of around me,” he said.
AlerisLife Inc. helped James get his business off the ground. “They gave this random guy a chance, and it was very much appreciated. They absolutely took a chance on somebody they didn’t know, and it ended up working out for everybody, especially me,” James said.
He takes a hands-on approach, jumping in to fill in as needed to help cover all of his clients’ needs.
“I’m just asking for the local community to support me as I support them the best way I know how,” he said. “I love the geriatric community and it’s truly an honor to be able to do what I do.”
