CLARKSVILLE, Tenn (CLARKSVILLENOW) – At 1:26 a.m. on Wednesday, April 8, Clarksville Police responded to a vehicle crash in the 2000 block of Tiny Town Road. Officers arrived to find a 2013 Hyundai Sonata crashed into an apartment building.

The vehicle had left the roadway, traveled down an embankment, climbed another embankment, became airborne and crashed into the bedroom of an apartment building several feet off of the ground. A resident of the apartment was in the room in bed at the time of the crash and became trapped underneath the vehicle. The resident was transported to Nashville with non life-threatening injuries.

The driver, 18 year old Rahul Malakar of Ft. Campbell, has been charged with DUI, vehicular assault and reckless endangerment. This is still an ongoing investigation and toxicology results are pending.

The apartment building has been structurally condemned. 12 Adults and four children have been displaced as a result. The Red Cross responded quickly and helped provide accommodations for those affected.
