NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lawyers in the Vanderbilt rape case met with a judge Friday morning during a status hearing.

WKRN News 2 reports that the brief hearing was to make sure both sides are prepared to go back to trial next month.

Defendants Cory Batey and Brandon Vandenburg both waived their right to appear, according to News 2.

Jury selection in the upcoming April trial is set to begin March 30 in Hamilton County. Once selections are complete, the jurors will be brought to Davidson County to hear the case.

Vandenburg and Batey have been out of jail since a judge issued a mistrial in their 2015 rape convictions due to juror misconduct.

Both former Vanderbilt football players were previously convicted of all charges against them, including multiple counts of aggravated rape for the alleged June 2013 rape.

The retrial is set to begin April 4.
