CLARKSVILLE, TN – Vanderbilt Clarksville Hospital received the 2025 Zero Harm Award from the Tennessee Hospital Association (THA), now in its third year recognizing patient safety achievements across Tennessee hospitals. Developed with the Tennessee Center for Patient Safety (TCPS) and the THA Quality Committee, the awards honor clinical departments that reached zero health care-associated infections, including Central Line-Associated Bloodstream Infections (CLABSI) and Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infections (CAUTI). Every inpatient nursing unit at Vanderbilt Clarksville Hospital was recognized — a first for the facility.

“The achievements by our hospital and caregivers are a testament to our focus on quality and safety practices in our facility,” said Randy Davis, president, Vanderbilt Clarksville Hospital. “The award highlights the dedicated efforts of our clinical departments to eliminate harm, save lives, and reduce unnecessary costs. THA’s zero harm initiative aligns with Vanderbilt Clarksville Hospital’s goal of achieving zero preventable harm across our hospital.”

Staff attributed the CLABSI and CAUTI results to increased nurse rounding for patients susceptible to infection, ongoing staff education, and mentoring by nursing leadership for patient care providers.
