CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The second annual Valor Run road race will take place September 20-21 in Clarksville. Part of the Welcome Home Veterans Celebration, the race will feature a 10k, 5k, and Memorial Mile.
Registration is still open for all divisions.
The Valor Run 10k powered by CDE Lightband is a 6.2 mile course through Montgomery County. Beginning and ending at Beachaven Winery. The 10k will be held on Saturday, September 21 beginning at 7:00am. The race perfect for those preparing for a distance race this fall. The Valor Run 10k is $40 and includes a finishers medal, t-shirt, and access to the post-race after party.
The Valor Run 5k will continue the same course as 2018, proving to be a fast flat course for the whole family. This 3.1 mile course begins at 7:30am on Saturday, September 21. The 5k is $30 to register. All participants will also receive a finishers medal, t-shirt, and post-race party access. Group and corporate running group discounts apply for teams of 10 or more. The Memorial Mile presented by AARP will be held the evening of September 20. The community is invited to walk in remembrance and honor of those who paid the ultimate sacrifice. Each participant will receive a race bib with the name of a fallen service member. Blank bibs will be available for those who wish to write in their own name as well.
The walk is just $10 and will include a race medal for the participant as well as a medal they can gift to the family of the fallen service member. The medals will be delivered through the national non-profit, Memories of Honor.
The walk will be held on the grounds of Beachaven Winery and move through the monuments and displays on site for the Welcome Home Veterans Celebration.
Race beneficiaries for 2019 include Clarksville Rotary and Memories of Honor. The Clarksville Rotary is committed to quality of life service projects in the community, including the new Field of Dreams ball park. Memories of Honor connects with military families across the country to preserve and honor the memory of their fallen Soldier.
