Valerie Lynn Oyen Larsen, age 53, of Nashville, died Sunday, April 20, 2014 at her home. She was born in Williston, ND, to Walter Herbert Oyen and Norman Jean Kittelson Oyen.

Ms. Larsen was a professional musician. She was an Adjunct Professor of Voice at Austin Peay State University, Belmont University, Trevecca Nazarene University, and numerous others. Valerie was also the Director of the Clarksville Community Chorus for ten years. She studied vocal performance at Franz Schubert Institute in Austria, and was the Music Director at Trinity Presbyterian Church, in Nashville, for ten years.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 27 at First Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the hour of service Sunday, at the church.

In addition to her parents, Valerie is survived by her son, Brennan Larsen, of Nashville; daughter, Briana Larsen, of Adams, TN; and two brothers, Lance (Karen) Oyen, and Mitchell (Michelle) Oyen, both of Rochester, MN.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Dr. Craig W. Oyen Memorial Research Award. This is a scholarship in honor of her brother, who passed ten years ago. Checks may be made payable to the Shippensburg University Foundation / Oyen Award, 1871 Old Main Drive, Shippensburg, PA 17257.
