CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Valerie Hunter-Kelly, co-owner of Keller-Williams Realty in Clarksville, died this weekend after a long battle with cancer.
Matt Wagner, founder of Radio & Television Experts and a longtime associate of Hunter-Kelly, said that she remained positive through her illness, which she largely kept private.
“She was a fighter all the way. Valerie loved life, loved learning, loved her family, loved people, loved God and lived it,” said Wagner.
Wagner said Hunter-Kelly recently completed her longtime goal of running a marathon in all 50 states.
Hunter-Kelly earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Hampton University and a Master of Science degree in microbiology from Oregon State University.
She was was a nationally recognized real estate professional and a well-known figure in Clarksville for her leadership and dedication to charity, according to Clarksville Now archives.
She had served on the board of directors for the Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce, the YMCA, the Clarksville-Montgomery County Education Foundation, the Association of the U.S. Army (Fort Campbell Chapter), the Customs House Museum Guild, the Clarksville United Way, Tennova Hospital and the Tennessee Housing Development Agency. She was also a prominent member and past president of the Clarksville Association of Realtors.
Hunter-Kelly was recognized in 1999 as one of the Top 500 Most Powerful Women in Real Estate, and she has been included three times in Wall Street Journal’s Top 1,000 Realtors. In 2014, Hunter-Kelly named one of the top 400 Realtors in the U.S by Wall Street Journal and Real Trends.
