CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Beginning Friday, March 19, individuals in risk-based Phases 2a and 2b, along with those 55 and older, can begin registering for a COVID-19 vaccine in Montgomery County, according to a county news release.

Phases 2a and 2b include those in critical infrastructure industries.

According to the Tennessee Department of Health, Phase 2a includes residents employed in the following industries: social services (includes child welfare agency personnel with direct public exposure), commercial agriculture, commercial food production, corrections staff not included in 1a1 (such as administrative staff, those without regular public or inmate contact) and those in public transit.

Phase 2b includes those in transportation, public infrastructure (which includes dams, roads, locks, and bridge maintenance and engineering, solid waste collection, and processing), telecommunications, and those in the utilities or energy industries.

In addition, the free COVID-19 testing location has moved from the COVID-19 vaccination site at Governor’s Square Mall to the Montgomery County Health Department, located at 350 Pageant Lane.

Individuals who do not have health insurance can schedule an appointment for COVID-19 testing by calling 931-648-5747.

Tests are conducted on Tuesday and Thursdays from 8:30am to 10:30 am at the Montgomery County Health Department located at 350 Pageant Lane. Montgomery County residents 18-years-of-age or older, regardless of their health insurance status, may pick up a self-administered COVID-19 test at no-cost, on Monday, Wednesday or Friday between 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

You must have a smartphone to pick up a self-administered test.

The COVID-19 tests are also available in many locations throughout Montgomery County and can be found at https://covid19.tn.gov/testing-sites/.

How to get the COVID-19 vaccine

Health Department: To register for a vaccination appointment online through the county health department, visit https://covid19.tn.gov/covid-19-vaccines/vaccine-phases/. Click Montgomery County on the map, click “Make an Appointment” to register, then enter the name and contact information to be notified of the appointment date, time and location as soon as the vaccine becomes available.

Individuals who do not have access to the internet should call 866-442-5301 to make an appointment.
