CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Four Clarksville-area baseball and softball teams competed in postseason competition on Wednesday night, and here’s an update on each team.

Following their regional championship victory, Rossview High entered a three-game series against Collierville in sectionals. The teams were tied at 2-2 before Collierville knocked in two runs at the top of the seventh inning. The Hawks ended up losing game one of the series by a score of 2-4.

Brady Cooper and Houston Hebert accounted for both of Rossview’s runs after each hit a solo home run.

Rossview is back in action on Thursday for game two of the series, which is a must win game. If they were to lose, their season is over and Collierville advances to the next round. The contest is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.

Meanwhile, Clarksville High entered a three-game series against Arlington High. The Wildcats shut out the Tigers and won game one by a score of 2-0.

Christian Henderson ou did himself on the mound after throwing a complete game shutout. Henderson threw 7 straight scoreless innings while only giving up 4 hits, 2 walks and he struck out 6 batters.

CHS will look to clinch their spot in the next round on Thursday. First pitch for game two is scheduled to take place at 6 p.m.

Softball regional championships

The Montgomery Central softball team clinched back-to-back regional titles after they defeated Greenbrier High by a score of 3-1. The Lady Indians redeemed themselves against the Bobcats after losing their two previous postseason matchups.

The game winning run was scored at the top of the sixth inning when Montgomery Central right fielder Abby Khamphengphet knocked in two runs off a bases loaded single.

Payton Harris threw a complete game for MCHS, and her pitches were untouchable throughout the start. Harris struck out 11 batters throughout her start while only giving up 5 hits, 1 earned run and 1 walk.

According to the TSSAA, with their regional championship win, Montgomery Central moves on to sectionals where they will face McNairy Central on Friday.

Rossview High softball also competed in their own regional championship game on Wednesday when they took on Henry County.

The Lady Hawks were defeated 3-5 by Henry County, but their seasons remains alive.

According to the TSSAA, with the loss, the Lady Hawks on Friday will face Arlington, who are coming off a regional championship victory of their own.
