HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. – The Hopkinsville Police Department released information Monday about a potential burglary scheme involving alarm systems.

Citizens had reported to police that a suspect was entering homes under the pretense of fixing parts of alarms systems, disarming them, and returning later to burglarize the homes.

After conducting an investigation, police determined that Guardian Protection Service, a legitimate business, was conducting door-to-door sales in the city, offering to update existing alarm systems installed by their competitors with a new digital alarm system.

The Hopkinsville Police Department was unaware of this due to the company failing to obtain a city privilege license.

Police said no homes were burglarized and no charges will be filed.
