CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW)- The 32-year-old man who was found by officers at Bennett Drive with multiple gunshot wounds died from his injuries overnight at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

The other two men, Decory Smith, 34, and Marc Crowder, 35, who also sustained gunshot wounds were initially taken to Tennova in a personal vehicle. The two men are still in the hospital, one locally and the other at a Nashville hospital.  They are both in stable condition.

Police have pieced together some of the events which occurred last night at Bennett Dr., according to a news release from Jim Knoll, spokesman for Clarksville Police Department.

The two men Smith and Crowder were visiting the 32-year-old victim at his Bennett Drive apartment.

Based on witness accounts, Smith and Crowder were allowed inside of the residence.  As soon as the men were inside, they were heard saying, “you know what this is” and then multiple gunshots were heard.  The two men fled from the scene in a gray Jeep Cherokee while the 32-year-old remained inside, mortally wounded.  One of the men leaving the scene was identified as Decory Smith.

While officers were still on the scene at Bennett Dr., they were notified by dispatch of two individuals that arrived at the Tennova Emergency Room in a gray Jeep Liberty suffering from gunshot wounds.

The investigation revealed the Jeep Liberty which Smith and Crowder had arrived at the hospital in, belonged to Crowder.

Criminal Homicide warrants have been taken out on Decory Smith and Marc Crowder in conjunction with the shooting death of the 32-year-old man and will be served on them upon discharge from the hospital.

Law enforcement personnel are assigned to the hospitals to secure them both until they can be discharged and booked into the Montgomery County Jail.

The 32-year-old victim’s name will not be released until appropriate notifications are made.

The investigation is ongoing.  Anyone with information can contact Detective Lee, 931-648-0656, ext.  5295,  Tipsline 931-645-8477, or go online and submit a tip anonymously at P3tips.com/591
