CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – United Way of the Greater Clarksville Region is planning to initiate its new “Text to Give” option for #GivingTuesday.
Giving Tuesday is a global giving movement that has been driven by individuals, families, organizations, businesses and communities in all 50 states and in countries around the world.
Since its founding in 2012, millions of people have come together to support and champion the causes they believe in and the communities in which they live.
Those who would like to take part in this global event by giving to United Way GCR’s local community campaign can simply text GIFT to 40403. Donations will be used to help support local partner programs in Montgomery, Stewart and Houston Counties.
After two days dedicated for getting deals – Black Friday and Cyber Monday – GivingTuesday is a day for giving back. Alayna Stevens, Campaign Director for United Way GCR, explains, “This is one of the busiest times of the year. If we are not shopping online, we are at least sharing gift ideas on social media. We want to meet people where they this Giving Tuesday—on their phones.” United Way GCR’s text-to-give feature offers a unique gift giving option as well. Donors may choose to give their contribution in honor or memory of someone special. When doing so, an acknowledgement gift card can be sent to the recipient of their choice.
