CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. — United Way of the Greater Clarksville Region hosted its annual Campaign Kick-Off on Tuesday, September 15 at the Riverview Inn. Reflecting the Mission Possible theme, supporters from local businesses and organizations accepted special assignments to advance the common good.

Members of United Way’s Board of Directors, geared in special agent attire, each opened briefcases to reveal this year’s campaign goal of $1,100,000. This total represents a 10% increase over the last year’s goal $1,000,000 goal, which was achieved in April 2015. Norm Brumblay, Campaign Chair, explained that the goal is calculated based on agency funding requests that represent humanitarian need in the community.

“While challenging, we believe this goal is Mission Possible. Each of you is uniquely qualified to help achieve this mission because you care. Enlisting the support of your fellow workplace agents widens the scope of possibility and opportunity. 24% of our community’s children live poverty. 35% of senior citizens in our state are choosing between food and medicine. Last year, you helped combat these concerns by assisting 32,855 individuals or families with basic living needs and providing 130,000 hot meals to senior citizens,” he said.

Following the mission briefing, agents used their investigative skills to complete a Community Quest through downtown Clarksville. The scavenger hunt challenged workplace teams to decipher clues leading to partner agency stations along the way.

United Way of the Greater Clarksville Region provides funding to twenty-six high performing local partner agencies that serve Education, Health and Financial Stability initiatives in Montgomery, Stewart and Houston Counties.
