NASHVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Nashville’s Lane Motor Museum, founded in 2002 by automotive connoisseur Jeff Lane, showcases hundreds of classic automobiles from around the world.
The museum opened its doors to the public in October 2003 with only 70 cars from Lane’s personal collection.
“The museum has a mission to collect and preserve automotive history for future generations,” museum representative Vicki Garrison said.
Lane Motor is not your typical classic auto museum because it specializes in European and Asian cars more than American models. Cars are collected and imported by the museum with the purpose of preserving them.
“There are a lot of different reasons that we get each car. Some of them are significant because they had a design that shaped the design for other cars. A lot of them are just fun and wacky and weird,” Garrison said.
Current exhibits include the Bicentennial of the Bicycle exhibit that celebrates the 200th anniversary of the bike; Fun in the Sun which features sports utility convertibles from the 60s, 70s and 80s; and the Microcar exhibit that showcases approximately 60 different microcars from around the world.
The museum is family friendly and features a kid’s play area and scavenger hunt activities.
You can find the Lane Motor Museum at 702 Murfreesboro Pike, Nashville, TN, 37210 in the old Sunbeam Bakery building.

“The building worked out quite well for our purposes,” Garrison said. “It had an upstairs area that they used to bake bread but we use as the exhibit area and it also had a downstairs storage area which was separate, which is great because we have a lot more cars than we can display.”
They currently have about 500 cars on hand with roughly 150 on display at one time.
Each year in November around Veterans Day, the museum offers free admission to active and retired members of the military plus three guests with a valid military ID. There is also a daily $3 military discount.
