Tyson and Taylor Farms both issue chicken recalls due to contamination and processing defects

WASHINGTON DC (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issued two recalls this week for chicken products sold in Tennessee and Kentucky.

Tyson Foods Inc. is recalling approximately 39,078 pounds of Weaver brand frozen chicken patty product that may be contaminated with extraneous materials.

The frozen, fully cooked chicken items were produced on January 31, 2019. The following products are subject to recall:

26-oz. resealable plastic bags containing “Weaver CHICKEN BREAST PATTIES BREADED CHICKEN BREAST PATTIES WITH RIB MEAT” with a best if used by date of “Jan312020” and lot code 0319PBF0617, 0319PBF0618, 0319PBF0619, 0319PBF0620, 0319PBF0621, 0319PBF0622, 0319PBF0623, or 0319PBF0600 represented on the label.

The products subject to recall bear establishment number “P-13456” printed on the back of the resealable plastic bag. These items were shipped to retail locations nationwide.

The problem was discovered after the recalling firm notified FSIS of consumer complaints.

Taylor Farms Inc., is recalling approximately 342 pounds of breaded chicken products due to a processing defect that may have led to under-cooking of products.

The ready-to-eat breaded chicken items were produced August 3, 2019. The following products are subject to recall:

14.75-oz. sealed clear trays containing “Parmesan Topped Chicken with Spaghetti” with lot codes TFIL215A001 and TFIL216A001 and “Use by” dates 8/14/19 and 8/15/19 represented on the label.

12.5-oz. sealed clear trays containing “Homestyle Fried Chicken Dinner” with lot codes TFIL215A001 and TFIL216A001 and “Use by” dates 8/13/19 and 8/14/19 represented on the label.

9-oz. cardboard trays with plastic lids containing “Breaded Chicken Breast” with lot codes TFIL215A001 and TFIL216A001 and “Use by” dates 8/09/19 and 8/10/19 represented on the label.

The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. or P-21794” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail locations in and sold in the deli section of retailers.

The problem was discovered when the recalling firm notified FSIS of a consumer complaint.

For both recalls, anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.

FSIS is concerned that some product may be in consumers’ refrigerators or freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
