SPRINGFIELD, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW)- The 8th Annual Tyler Jackson Head Memorial 5K Fun Run/Walk will be held on Saturday, February 1 in Springfield, Tenn.
On February 3, 2012, Tyler J. Head, 20, an agriculture student at Austin Peay, was tragically killed in a car wreck caused by an impaired driver. He was on his way to class at APSU in Clarksville.
Tyler had been diagnosed with Colitis and later Crohn’s Disease and lived with the disease for seven years.
The run will be held on Saturday, Feb. 1, at Travis Park in Springfield. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and costs $15. The 5k run starts at 9 a.m.

Proceeds will benefit the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation and the Tyler J. Head APSU Scholarship Fund for Agriculture, both causes important to Tyler and his family.
The scholarship fund was recently endowed having reached the $25,000 mark.
“We want to continue to honor Tyler by contributing to these two worthwhile causes,” Gina Head Hieber, his mother said.”We are proud of making it to the endowment mark. There will always be a Tyler J. Head Scholarship at APSU.”
