CLARKSVILLE, TN – Families across Tennessee are highlighting Tennessee’s DUI memorial sign program during National Impaired Driving Prevention Month, as they urge the public to not drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs this holiday season.
Gina Head-Hieber’s family is one of those in Middle Tennessee. Her 20-year-old son, Tyler Head, was killed in a head-on crash in Clarksville in 2012.
Head-Hieber helped to get the Tyler Head Law passed in 2016, a program which mandates the Tennessee Department of Transportation to erect and maintain memorial signs honoring Tennesseans killed in DUI crashes on state roads. Since the law’s passing, more than 20 signs have been installed across the state.

There are certain criteria that must be met for a memorial sign to be placed on a state road, honoring a loved one. Montgomery County families interested in learning more about the program and process can contact the 19th Judicial District Attorney’s Office online or call 931-648-5574.
