CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Clarksville city officials gathered at the intersection of Highway 41-A and Excell Road Tuesday afternoon to unveil a road sign honoring Tyler Barrett. Barrett served 21 years as an officer and detective with the Clarksville Police Department. He passed away in November of 2015.

Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan, City Council members and Police Chief Al Ansley were joined by a number of police officers along with Barrett’s family and friends for the sign dedication. There are two signs on Excell Road that say “In Honor of Detective Tyler Barrett”.

Chief Ansley shared his feelings about Barrett. “He meant a lot to us. I knew the man for over 20 years and thought the world of him, everybody loved Tyler. I think the world of his wife and his family who still work for us. I know this is a proud day for you, it’s a proud day for us,” said Ansley.

Mayor McMillan talked about the sign remembering Barrett. “Sometimes when you have someone like Tyler, it’s hard to really do something to honor his memory. When they drive down this road, they will see the sign and they will know the tribute Tyler Barrett was to our community,” McMillan said.

Barrett’s wife of over 28 years, Kimberly, was overwhelmed and said she was grateful to everyone as she was given a replica of the sign.
