CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – It’s time to put up the sign “Gone Fishing.” The annual Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA)/Clarksville Parks & Recreation, Kids Fishing Rodeo is coming up, Saturday, June 10 at the Liberty Park Pond.

The Kids Fishing Rodeo is free and open to the public and you are not required to have a fishing license. Pre-registration forms can be can be picked up at the sporting goods counter at Walmart stores in Clarksville.

On Saturday, registration begins at 7:00 a.m., fishing starts at 7:30 and goes until 9:30 a.m. Anyone 16 years and younger can fish. Parents are not allowed to fish, but they can help kids in baiting, casting, and taking the fish off the hook. Each participant is only allowed one fishing pole.

What to fish for? All types of fish are in the pond and TWRA will stock the pond with catfish. Some worms will be provided by Bowles Baits, but fishing participants will need to bring their own poles and bait. Bait includes crickets, worms, minnows, chicken liver, etc.

Trophies will be given out in each category for most weight boy and girl. Prizes will be awarded for biggest and smallest fish overall. Ties for biggest and smallest fish will be broken by most total weight. All announcements and decisions made the day of the Kids Fishing Rodeo will be final.
