NASHVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency responded to a report of a missing boater on J. Percy Priest Lake near Four Corners Marina before dark on Friday, April 24.

Witnesses reported a male and female aboard a personal watercraft (PWC) were leaving the no wake zone at the marina. A short time later the PWC overturned. A friend, aboard a second vessel, offered aid to the couple and was able to get the female to safety. An effort to rescue the male was unsuccessful.

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, along with Davidson County Office of Emergency Management (OEM), began a search of the area. Using a Remote Operated Vehicle (ROV), that employs sonar imaging, TWRA officials were able to locate the body near where the individual was last seen. OEM divers were then able to go down and make a recovery. The individual was not wearing a personal floatation device (PFD) at the time of the recovery, however an unbuckled PFD was found floating nearby.

This incident is under investigation and the identity of the man is being withheld pending notification of family.

This is the eighth boating fatality in Tennessee this year.
