CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Clarksville Police Department responded to a traffic collision on Ashland City Road (41A Bypass) near Chesterfield Circle on the morning of Feb. 20.
The call was received by dispatch at 7:31 a.m.
According to Lt. Steve Warren, the two-vehicle crash involved two trucks and two male drivers with no passengers. The driver of the silver Toyota truck was taken by ambulance to a pre-designated landing zone at Barksdale School where he was transported by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the red Dodge pickup was transported by EMS to Gateway Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
The victim who was transported to Vanderbilt is currently in the trauma unit.
The driver of the Dodge pickup has been identified as 67-year-old William Coke of Clarksville.
Investigating Officer William King described the crash as more of an opposite-direction sideswipe than a head-on collision. He said that one of the vehicles apparently drifted into oncoming traffic for unknown reasons.
One lane of the Bypass was blocked by emergency vehicles for a time. The roadway is now cleared.
