CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Two people were rescued from a burning building on Frosty Morn Drive in Clarksville Thursday.

According to Clarksville Fire Rescue (CFR), firefighters were dispatched to a fire at an abandoned building at 625 Frosty Morn Dr. (Old Frosty Morn Building) on March 14 at 6:43 p.m.

Fire crews from Stations 1, 8, and 4 arrived on the scene with heavy smoke coming from the building.

Chief Jim Cain noticed an individual waving his arms through the bars of a window and firefighters used a K-12 saw to cut through the bars to reach the victim.

Once firefighters got the first victim out, he became aggressive and said, “I didn’t set the fire, I called 911.”

Officials said the man struck Engineer Steve Delle with a closed fist and was then subdued.

He was taken into custody by Clarksville Police Department and Delle declined to press charges.

A secondary rescue team found a second victim badly injured with visible burns. He was removed from the building and turned over to EMS. He was then transported to Vanderbilt by Lifeflight and his condition is unknown at this time.

This is the second fire at this location in two days, according to CFR. The cause is under investigation.
