CLARKSVILLE, TN – Two star wrestlers from the Northwest program have made commitments to compete in college. Seniors Henry Williams and Kevin Shaw will be wrestling at the next level this fall, as Williams signed with Campbellsville University in Kentucky and Shaw with Huntingdon College in Alabama.

“It was amazing to watch these two young men perfect their craft,” said Northwest coach Chris Bedell. “They have accomplished so much. I want to thank them both for their leadership and dedication to the Viking wrestling family.”

Williams wrestled in the 175-pound weight class this season for the Vikings, going 53-8 and placing 4th at the TSSAA State Championships. He also won a medal for 3rd place at the TN-USA Wrestling Freestyle State Championships a few weekends ago. A captain for the Northwest program, Williams went 105-24 in his high school career, wrestling his freshman and sophomore seasons at Kenwood and his final two years at Northwest. He was 53-8 this season. Williams also qualified for several prestigious national tournaments, including Super 32 in North Carolina and the USA Wrestling Freestyle National Championships in Fargo, North Dakota. Campbellsville is an NAIA program, finishing 6th this season as a team and landing four All-Americans.

Shaw is the valedictorian at Northwest this year, where he wrestled for four years and earned a lifetime record of 137-38, going 49-8 in his senior campaign. He was voted the Male Athlete of the Year 2022 and went to the TSSAA State Championships twice as a state qualifier. Also a captain for the Northwest program, like his teammate he competed at Super 32. Huntingdon College is an NCAA Division III program.
