CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Two Clarksville men have been jailed in connection with an armed robbery that occurred early Tuesday morning at the Kangaroo Express on Lafayette Rd.

According to arrest warrants, the clerk told police he was robbed at gunpoint by a man shortly after 3 a.m. The victim said a black male pointed a handgun at him and demanded money and cigarettes. The incident was captured by video surveillance.

The suspect fled the scene with money from the register, multiple packs of Newport cigarettes, and an 18-pack of Bud Light.

An officer stopped a vehicle a short time later on Providence Blvd. that matched the description of the suspect’s vehicle. The occupants, 28-year-old Bobby Ladd and 28-year-old Lamarr Haines, consented to a search, according to arrest warrants.

Police found a handgun matching the description of the weapon used in the robbery as well as beer, a large amount of cash, and clothing the suspect had been seen wearing in the video. Police also found that Ladd was in possession of morphine tablets.

Ladd was charged with aggravated robbery felon in possession of a firearm, and simple possession with a $205,000 bond. Haines was charged with aggravated robbery with a $100,000 bond.
