CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Montgomery County Sheriffs’ Office (MCSO) is investigating a shooting that occurred Tuesday just after midnight at 4590 Barton’s Creek Rd in southern Montgomery County.

E-911 operators received a call from 4590 Barton’s Creek Road at 12:51 this morning from a caller saying he was shot in the stomach. Deputies arrived on the scene and found the victim, Jeffery Wade Vogelsang, suffering from a gunshot wound in the stomach area. The victim was flown to Vanderbilt for his injuries, which at last report were not life threatening.

According to another person at the residence, the victim was in the garage at the time of the shooting and the suspect was unknown.

While investigating the scene of the shooting deputies found a second person had been shot. Daniel Joe Otten II was found in a tall grassy area on the property and had two gunshot wounds in the back. He was transported to a hospital in Dickson then later to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.

Otten’s injuries were also last reported as not life threatening.

Sheriffs’ Investigators believe that both shooting victims were shot during the same incident and that this incident was not just a random shooting. Investigators are still at the scene and more information will be provided when it becomes available.
