CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – One person was hospitalized following a crash on Riverside Dr. Sunday, Dec. 8 around 2 a.m.
According to Officer Natalie Hall with the Clarksville Police Department (CPD), a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by John T. Kmetz, entered the roadway directly in the path of a 2007 Chrysler 300, driven by Emmanuel S. Yancey, which was traveling southbound in the right lane. The collision sent the Malibu across the roadway, and it came to rest on the sidewalk.
Yancey told police the Malibu came to a stop before entering the roadway and then abruptly accelerated into the path of his vehicle.
Kmetz was transported to Gateway Hospital then later transferred to Vanderbilt Medical Facility, and Yancey refused medical attention.
The crash is still under investigation, and charges are pending. There is no further information at this time.
