CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Frigid temperatures have prompted the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) to ask the public to conserve electricity through Friday morning.
The region served by TVA includes almost all of Tennessee and parts of Mississippi, Kentucky, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, and Virginia.
Demand for electricity within TVA region is expected to increase because of the extremely cold weather, and customers can take simple electricity conservation steps:
• Set thermostats lower than usual, if health permits
• Postpone using major electric appliances such as stoves, dishwashers, and clothes dryers until the demand for electricity decreases on Friday
• Turn off electric lights and appliances that you do not need or are not using
Conserving electricity will help ensure adequate power supplies. TVA will continue to monitor power supply conditions.
