CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – More than 100 volunteers handed out 1,500 turkeys at the sixth annual Turkeys For Troops on Saturday.
For most of morning, the line of vehicles was long as military family members were handed a frozen turkey and a 2-liter soft drink at Ajax Distributing Company on Warfield Boulevard.
One veteran, Kathy Vogt, talked about what receiving a turkey for Thanksgiving meant to her and her family. “We are thoroughly and graciously grateful to them for helping the military families out, the active-duty and retirees. We’re here for a purpose, and we appreciate them helping us with our Thanksgiving meal,” Vogt said.
