CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The holidays can be a difficult time financially for many military families, and local businesses and organizations have stepped up to help those in need.

Area military families will receive free turkeys as part of the Turkeys for Troops giveaway Saturday, Nov. 17 at James Corlew Chevrolet Cadillac (722 College Street) in downtown Clarksville from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Volunteers will donate 1,000 turkeys to active duty and retired military personnel and their families. A valid military ID is required and there will be a limit of one turkey per household.

This event is first-come, first-served.

“This is a small gesture of thanks from our sponsors, their employees and families to show support for our troops in their constant endeavor to preserve our freedom – a fact we so often take for granted,” James Corlew Jr. said.
