FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. – Information about possible troop reductions at Fort Campbell is expected to be revealed by officials within the next 30 days.

Army spokesman Lt. Col. Joe Buccino said in an official statement that the Army will announce its plans to restructure its units, installations and headquarters within the next 30 days.

The service had tentatively planned to announce its plans Wednesday, but the analysis is still ongoing.

“The delay will have no effect on the Army’s restructuring plans because they won’t be implemented until the start of the new 2016 fiscal year. In all, the restructuring will affect soldiers at about 30 installations and involve cuts or changes to headquarters, brigades and smaller units,” Buccino told POLITICO.

Proposed cutbacks under the Budget Control Act could cost the army post about 16,000 soldiers and civilians, which could have major effects on the local economy.

A delegation of local elected officials, business and community leaders made a trip to Washington DC earlier this year to address the issues of cuts at Fort Campbell.
