CLARKSVILLE, TN – Trinity Episcopal Church has seen the need and hurt of those in the LGBTQ+ community during recent years. In response, members and clergy of Trinity have formed a new group, Open Arms, to address the need for healing and support. The mission of Open Arms is “To bring the LGBTQ+ community together for support and interaction in a safe place, and to embrace them with God’s love.”

A supportive gathering will be offered for anyone in this community who is struggling or just needs support, on the last Thursday of every month, starting March 30, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall at 317 Franklin St.

“During these support group gatherings, we will offer quiet contemplation and a place to share without judgment, with peers within your local LGBTQ+ community,” organizers said.

Open Arms is a non-denominational group hosted by Trinity Episcopal Church, open to people of all faiths, some faith, no faith or those struggling with faith.

“Now is the time to open our arms here at Trinity for those who have been hurt or are struggling in the LGBTQ+ community,” said the Rev. Dorothy Hartzog, interim rector of Trinity. “We welcome all, no matter their background, with hopes we can offer some sort of solace or peace.”

Open Arms will have resources available to attendees as well as just a listening ear and heart. For more information, call 931-645-2458 or email info@trinityparish.com.
