CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The city and county mayors have issued the following advisory regarding trick-or-treating:
“City of Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan and Montgomery County Mayor Carolyn Bowers, following a morning weather call with the National Weather Service, are encouraging that trick-or-treating occur on Friday, November 1, when more suitable weather is anticipated.
Although the severity of the weather system has lessened, the timing for the most intense weather is predicted for our area between 6 and 9 p.m. – the prime time for trick-or-treating.
In an effort to ensure public safety, the Clarksville Police Department and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office have allocated additional resources for both Halloween night and Friday, November 1. Clarksville Police Department will also enhance its presence at Governor’s Square Mall tonight for their indoor activities.
As always, safety is the primary concern and we urge parents to remain vigilant as weather is ever changing.”

The Clarksville Police Department will have extra patrols Thursday and Friday nights for public safety.
Governor’s Square Mall will host an indoor trick-or-treating option Thursday, Oct. 31 from 5-9 p.m. See more Halloween options here.

Fort Campbell has moved “Operation Friendly Ghost” to Nov. 1 from 6-8 p.m. Volunteers will help out with trick-or-treating across the installation.
Fort Campbell officials posted the following message on Facebook:
“For the safety of the Fort Campbell community, Trick-or-treating on Fort Campbell has been shifted to Friday, Nov. 1. The time frame is still 6-8 p.m. We apologize for any impact to Fall Festivities at the schools on post. Operation Friendly Ghost will still be in effect during this time frame and you will see an increased presence from military police and volunteers.
This change is being made to ensure the safety of our community due to the possibility of severe weather: there is the chance of damaging straight line winds, isolated tornadoes, and localized flooding. This change will allow all available emergency personnel to be able to respond to any situations that may arise due to the possible severe weather. We thank you for your cooperation and wish you all a happy and safe Halloween.”
