CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – It’s been nine years since Fran “Frankie” Daniel Caratini was found shot to death on Chapel Street, and the trial for his murder is finally beginning.

On the night of Aug. 14, 2014, police responded to multiple shots fired in the New Providence area of Clarksville. When they arrived on the scene, they found Caratini, 24, deceased. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

The case went cold for years, all leads seeming dried up, until Oct. 23, 2020, when an arrest was made. Shaquille Dwayne Miles was arrested at his place of employment by detectives with the CPD Homicide Unit and deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Warrant Division.

Detective Keenan Carlton had been assigned to the case and was able to give it fresh set of eyes. Carlton was able to further develop pre-existing leads, which led to Miles’ arrest.

Jury selection began Monday morning and concluded at 4 p.m. Opening arguments and witness testimony will begin Tuesday morning.
