CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Clarksville Parks & Recreation’s Forestry Division will replace trees downtown on Franklin Street beginning Monday, January 28 and continue through early Spring.

The current trees are becoming too big for their tree wells and are in decline. A total of 30 replacement trees — a hybrid variety of Sweet Gum that doesn’t create seed pods — will be planted.

Trees will be removed and replaced one at a time in stages. The first stage will include trees on Franklin Street from South Third Street to South Second Street. The second stage will include trees on Franklin Street from South Second Street to First Street. Each tree will take approximately three days to replace.
