Hygeian Hand and Foot Refinery’s technicians want to help alleviate your insecurities in a private, clean and comfortable environment.
Services such as toenail reconstruction, callus and cuticle refinement, uncurling of the nail plate, gentle post-surgical care and cosmetic maintenance are offered in a safe environment using medical-grade, sterilized single-use tools and a soakless option.
Meet the owner
Erin has 24 years of experience and started her career in cosmetology in Oceanside, California, studying hair care. Opportunity led her to a nail salon where she became a nail technician. As she learned to perfect pedicures, she took advantage of special training and found a niche and passion in nail care for clients with special circumstances.
“I love helping people overcome their fears and embarrassments of their hands and feet,” she said. “Many times they do not know the services available to them to help them. I can guide them through the process of what needs to be done medically and then how I can help cosmetically.”
In January 2019, she opened the doors to Hygeian Hand and Foot Refinery and has a passion to help people needing special services they can’t get at other salons and for those who’ve had unpleasant experiences at other nail salons and need one-on-one special care.
She earned her clinical podiatry medical assistant certificate and a Bachelor of Science in Podology, but chose not to work in the medical field. Erin chose to bring a middle ground to podiatry and nail care. She is trained in oncology nail care and focuses on bridging the gap between the podiatrist and the nail salon.
While she cannot treat or cure medical issues, Erin provides services while clients are under podiatry care and focuses on addressing discomfort and pain due to issues like excessively curved nails, dry and cracked heels, and loss of toenails.
She help clients who cannot care for themselves because of arthritis, surgeries or limited range of motion. After a client is released from a doctor, Erin and her techs can provide cosmetic care.
Erin is a “first-responder” when it comes to foot health and can advise when treatment is needed by a medical professional.
Compassionate Customer Care
Customer satisfaction, comfortable, gentle care and personal attention to health are what Erin and her technicians pride themselves in.
When Erin opened in January 2019, she was working solo, but added a part-time technician in August 2019 and plans to hire another technician in September.
She gives unique hands-on mentoring to her nail technicians, who share her passion to serve those in the community, and she plans to expand to other communities in the future.
Educating and providing compassionate, personal care is how Hygeian measures their success.
“I had a client I had been working on for years with healthy toenails. And then things began to shift after some back surgeries,” she said. “We finally figured out that her MRSA infection acquired post surgery meant strong antibiotics and that created a yeast-dominant environment internally, which in turn expressed itself in her nails changing dramatically. So off to the podiatrist she went and got them cared for properly.”
Services at Hygeian are performed with high-quality non-toxic products, and manicure and pedicure services are also offered.
Hygeian Hand and Foot Refinery is at 226B Dover Road, Clarksville. They are open Monday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. On Saturdays, they are open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
