NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Soldiers who died while fighting in Vietnam are being honored in Nashville for Memorial Day weekend.
A replica of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C., is now on display at the Nashville National Cemetery.
The traveling wall stands 6 feet tall at the center and 300 feet long. It has made its way through the country as a way to honor fallen soldiers.
“The primary mission of the United States Vietnam War commemoration is to rally the nation to thank and honor our Vietnam veterans. They came home 40 to 50 years today to less than a hero’s welcome, which is not what they deserved so we’re doing our best right now to change that perception and make sure that every single Vietnam vet gets the thanks and welcome home that they deserve,” explained James Hartman, Staff Sergeant Marine Corps.
The wall will be on display until 3:00 p.m. Monday.
