Update, 7:15 p.m.: The roadway is back open and traffic has returned to normal.
Update, 5:05 p.m.: The shooting was the result of a road rage dispute, Beaubien said.
At approximately 4:04 p.m., the victim was traveling southbound on Wilma Rudolph when he was shot at by the passenger of another vehicle. The victim ran off the road and into a small ditch, and the suspect vehicle left the area, Beaubien said.
The victim was transported to Tennova Healthcare-Clarksville.
Detectives and officers with CPD are at the scene. One lane is open in each direction, but there is heavy traffic congestion. CPD is asking motorists to find an alternate route until the scene can be cleared.

Update, 4:50 p.m.: The wreck was caused by a shooting, according to Clarksville Police spokesman Scott Beaubien.
A person shot from one vehicle to another on the highway, and the victim went into a ditch before the bridge, Beaubien told Clarksville Now. The victim had non-lifethreatening injuries, he said.
More information will be released as it becomes available.
Update, 4:40 p.m.: It appears that a crash caused the backup.
Northbound traffic is now backed up to Kraft Street.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Traffic was backed up for over a mile on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard Thursday afternoon.
At 4:30 p.m., the incident at Old Trenton Road was causing problems for southbound traffic, which was backed up to the Post Office.
Northbound traffic was backed up past the bridge.
