UPDATE, 7:30 a.m.:  According to a Facebook post from Clarksville Fire Rescue, three people suffered burns in the fire and two dogs died of smoke inhalation.

At 5:42 a.m. Monday morning, CFR crews arrived to the scene on Single Tree Drive with flames coming from the roof.

A family of six lived in the home, and some were able to escape the blaze by climbing out of a second-floor window.

One of the three who suffered burns was Lifeflight transported to Vanderbilt Hospital, and Montgomery County EMS transported the other two to Tennova Clarksville.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, according to the post.

The house is considered as a total loss, and the TN River Chapter of the Red Cross has been called in to assist the family of six.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Whitfield Road is closed in both directions between 101st Airborne Division Parkway and Old Trenton Road due to a house fire on Single Tree Drive.

The Clarksville Police Department is asking that the public avoid using Whitfield Rd between 101st and Old Trenton Road this morning, according to a news release from Lt. Charles Gill.

There is no estimate on when the road will be reopened.
