Update, 7:45 p.m.: The man who was hit by a vehicle on Providence Boulevard has died from his injuries, according to CPD.

The roadway is back open, and traffic has returned to normal.

Update, 6:55 p.m.: Traffic is moving through the area but is still slow.

Update, 6:05 p.m.: Southbound traffic is backed up past Dover Crossing. Northbound traffic is backed up past the Riverside Drive/Kraft Street intersection.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle on Providence Boulevard Friday night.

At about 5:10 p.m., the vehicle, traveling south, hit the person on Providence near D Street, according to Clarksville Police spokesman Scott Beaubien.

The southbound lanes of Providence were shut down and traffic was being diverted onto Oak Street.

The pedestrian was taken to Tennova Healthcare-Clarksville, and the status has not been released.

Motorists are advised to find an alternate route until the roadway can be cleared.
