CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – McClure Bridge, which carries Highway 48/13 over the Cumberland River, is closed.
There was a wreck just before 1 p.m., causing traffic in both directions to be shut down, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
Traffic is backed up on the alternate Cunningham Bridge/Zinc Plant Road. River Road northbound and Cumberland Drive southbound are both backed up with traffic.
There is no estimate on when the bridge will reopen.
McClure is in the midst of an ongoing bridge construction project. Two-lane traffic is using a new bridge span while crews finish building the adjacent span. Once fully open, projected for this summer, the bridge will accommodate four-lane traffic with shoulders.
