CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A food distribution event has one lane of Madison Street blocked from just after Crossland Avenue to Liberty Parkway.
CPD officers are currently directing traffic and blocking turning lanes at the intersection of Madison Street and Liberty Parkway, as well as the intersection of Liberty Parkway and Delmar Drive.
Open Door Ministries, in partnership with local churches, is giving away food at the old Eckerd/Rite Aid drugstore at the intersection of Liberty Parkway. Cars lined up to collect food are backed up for about 2,500 feet.
This is the second event held by Open Door Ministries at the site. According to Pastor Mark Hutchinson, who is leading the food distribution effort, the group will be present next week as well.
“With the epidemic that we’ve had this year, everybody needs something. And if you have to question whether to pay a bill or feed your family, we’ll feed your family so you can pay your bill,” he said.
