Update, 5 p.m.: I-24 eastbound has been closed at Exit 1, and traffic is backed up into Kentucky to mile marker 91. Exit 4 eastbound is open and clear.

Meanwhile, westbound traffic is backed up from the mile marker 7 wreck past Exits 8 and 11 to mile marker 12.

Update, 4 p.m.: There are two wrecks on Interstate 24: The westbound lanes are backed up from a wreck at mile marker 7 to Exit 8, and eastbound lanes are backed up from a wreck at mile marker 4 to Exit 1.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – An injury crash had part of the Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway closed Wednesday afternoon.

At about 2:57 p.m., vehicles crashed on MLK Jr. Parkway near Dunkin Donuts, at the entrance to Matthews Nissan, according to a Clarksville Police news release.

The status of the injuries is unknown, but they do not appear to be life-threatening, CPD said.

The eastbound lanes of MLK Jr. Parkway were shut down and the crash was causing significant traffic congestion. Motorists are strongly advised to seek an alternate route and avoid the area until the roadway can be cleared and reopened.
