Update, 8:40 a.m. Friday: Clarksville Now has requested information from Tennessee Highway Patrol about details of the wreck. That information is not being released, at the request of the District Attorney’s Office. That could be an indication that criminal charges will be involved.
Update, 7:30 p.m.: After being closed for most of the day for a police investigation into a fatal 4-vehicle crash, I-24 westbound is finally open, and traffic is clear through the area.
Update, 6:40 p.m.: The westbound lanes are still closed from Exit 11 to 19, but the traffic backup has cleared.
Eastbound lanes are still backed up around Exit 11 and mile marker 15.
Update, 5:25 p.m.: Westbound lanes are still closed from Exit 11 to 19, then backed up to about mile marker 25.
Eastbound lanes are slow between Exit 8 and Exit 11, then backed up from about mile marker 13 to mile marker 22.
There are also long backups in both directions on the detour U.S. Highway 41A between Maxey Road and Pleasant View.
Update, 4:25 p.m.: Westbound lanes are still closed from Exit 11 to 19, then backed up to about mile marker 26.
Eastbound lanes are backed up between Exit 8 and Exit 11, then from about mile marker 15 to mile marker 22.
Update, 3:45 p.m.: The eastbound lanes are now backed up between Exit 19 and Exit 24.
Update, 3:15 p.m.: The westbound lanes remain closed, and traffic is backed up to about mile marker 25.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Interstate 24 westbound has been shut down from Exit 19 to Exit 11 for an investigation of a fatal four-vehicle crash early this morning.
The crash happened in the westbound lanes at near mile marker 18 around 1:15 a.m.
At 11 a.m., Tennessee Highway Patrol was still continuing their investigation, and westbound lanes may not reopen until this afternoon. Traffic is being diverted at Exit 19.
At 11:15 a.m., westbound traffic was backed up to about mile marker 27.
