Update, 11:30 a.m. Friday: A tractor trailer crashed into the trees on Interstate 24 in Clarksville Thursday night, causing the interstate shutdown.
At around 7 p.m., the tractor trailer was going westbound when it went off the roadway at mile marker .8, according to a preliminary Tennessee Highway Patrol report.
It traveled 600 feet into the tree line to the right of the road and crashed into multiple trees before coming to a stop, the report said.
The 31-year-old driver, from High Point, North Carolina, was injured.
Update, 7:30 p.m.: Traffic is backed up to Exit 4.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Interstate 24 westbound is closed after a wreck just past Exit 1.
At about 7:05 p.m., Clarksville Police were helping Tennessee Highway Patrol with the closure.
CPD is requesting that the public avoid the area and find alternate routes.
