Update, 3:40 p.m.: Westbound traffic remains backed up from about mile marker 15 past Exit 19 to mile marker 23.

Eastbound traffic is back to normal.

Update, 2:25 p.m.: All westbound lanes are now open in Montgomery County, but backups continue from about mile marker 15, past Exit 19, to mile marker 23.

The eastbound lanes are clearing but still moving slow near Exit 11.

Update, 2 p.m.: One westbound lane is now open, but traffic will be “significantly affected coming into Montgomery County” for a while, according to MCSO Lt. Mark Wojnarek. “Please continue to seek alternate routes,” he said.

The backup is the result of three separate crashes in a short span of time: a hit and run crash, a semi truck crash, and a sheriff’s patrol vehicle being rear-ended, Wojnarek said.

Update, 1:55 p.m.: Westbound traffic is beginning to clear. The blockage is now from about mile marker 15 to mile marker 23.

Update, 1:40 p.m.: Westbound traffic is now backed up from Exit 11 to about mile marker 22.

Eastbound traffic is now at a standstill from about mile marker 15 to mile marker 12.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Interstate 24 westbound is blocked in Clarksville, with traffic backed up for miles past the city limits.

The interstate was shut down near mile marker 15 at about 1:05 p.m., according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

At 1:25 p.m., traffic was at a standstill from just past Exit 11, past Exit 19 to about mile marker 21.

Eastbound lanes were moving slowly.
