Update, 3 p.m.: The roadway is back open at Exit 1. Due to the second crash at mile marker 5, westbound traffic is being diverted off of I-24 at Exit 11, and motorists can get back onto I-24 West at Exit 4. I-24 West is shut down from Exit 11 to the off-ramp at Exit 4.
Update, 12 p.m.: Westbound traffic is backed up to Exit 4.
Update, 10:45 a.m.: The crash involved two semi-tractor-trailers.
Police said one of the truckers was hauling flammable material and the cab had caught fire. The driver was able to get out of the vehicle with the assistance of a CPD officer, and that driver has been flown to Nashville by Lifeflight helicopter. The status of his injuries is unknown at this time.
Initially, traffic was shut down on I-24 East to allow Lifeflight to load the patient and has since been opened back up.
Clarksville Fire Rescue was able to extinguish the fire without the contents of the trailer being affected. I-24 Westbound traffic is being diverted at Exit 1.
CPD is once again asking the public to avoid the area and find alternate routes. Traffic is currently backed up pass Rossview High School.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – I-24 West is currently shut down due to a semi crash.
The Clarksville Police Department, along with Clarksville Fire Rescue, has responded to a semi-tractor trailer crash on I-24 West, according to Clarksville Police spokesman Scott Beaubien.
Currently, I-24 West is shut down at Mile Marker 1 and traffic is being diverted at Exit 4. I-24 East is currently shut down and expected to be opened back up shortly.
