CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Clarksville Fire & Rescue crews are working to put out a house fire on Georgia Avenue halted traffic on N. Second Street near Clarksville Academy Saturday afternoon.
Clarksville Fire Rescue Deputy Chief Steve Batten told Clarksville Now at 12:30 p.m. the thoroughfare traffic on N. Second Street is expected to remain blocked for the next hour or so.
The road should reopen after crews remove water lines from the house at 233 Georgia Avenue.
“All we know is that people were in the middle of a renovation, they went to lunch, came back and found it on fire,” Batten said.
Batten added that when Clarksville Fire and Rescue responded, the fire seemed to have started in the attic. After venting the space, Battalion 3 crews have the fire now under control.
No injuries have been reported, and the scene is currently under investigation to determine cause of the fire, according to Clarksville Fire Rescue Assistant Chief Michael Rios. Due to the renovations, the home looked to be vacant.
